Hey Strangeness Podcast
The Hey Strangeness Podcast was launched in Summer of 2021. In every episode Aaron and Sara dissect a different topic in the world of strangeness, including werewolves, Mesoamerican folklore and the role of hoaxes in cryptozoology (to name a few), with a mixture of humor, detailed research and (most importantly) respect for the source material.
This is a weird one. Weird because it's almost never talked about, and even weirder because it involves INVINCIBLE BEAR MONKEYS. Or something. Part cryptid encounter, part UFO story, all BATTLE ROYALE, The Caracas Dwarves has recently become one of our favorite cases. Find out why.

After and during the course of a prolific musical career, one of the most important movers in the paranormal/unsolved niche since Thomas Baker Slick Jr. would do something that - to put it lightly - would send shockwaves across the world. In 2017 the To The Stars Academy released what are probably the most impactful pieces of hard evidence regarding the UFO/UAP question to the public. Five years hence, things are drastically different regarding not only the UFO conversation, but the dialogue surrounding the unsolved at large. It's time to talk about why, and give Monsieur DeLonge (of Blink 182 and Angels and Airwaves, two of the greatest musical acts of our generation) the credit he deserves.
They're everywhere. EVERYWHERE. They've been around for centuries, they're taking over our yards, infiltrating our holidays, lining the shelves of our retail establishments... what are we gonna do, you guys? Probably go extinct, because we've basically invited the GNOMES into every aspect of our lives, and when they turn on us it's all over. Join us for a strange and semi in-depth discussion... on GNOMES.
Thank you so much to our good friend Mike G. of @artofthemorningstar for the amazing episode cover which he put together for us without being asked. Make sure you're following Mike, because his art is amazing.
The Jaguar Men of Mesoamerica. During research this topic turned into a rabbit hole of coincidence and apparent linkages with other folk tales which literally blew our minds. Join us on a strange journey through Mesoamerican mythology in which we find connections with La Lechuza, the European Werewolf, Quetzalcoatl and a lot more. We'll also get into 17th century guerilla fighter Maria De La Candelaria who we're now sort of obsessed with, as well as examine some modern day Nagual sightings courtesy of Nick Redfern and the internet, and talk a little bit about Farcry 6. Dang.
Today we take a semi-deep dive into the mythology of Quetzalcoatl; The Aztec Dragon, The Feathered Serpent, and... The Jesus Snake - ? Quetzalcoatl is steeped in lore spread over decades and centuries, and runs the gambit from "maybe some people saw a dinosaur" to "oh wow this is some crazy stuff right here," - let's ask, though - what else might be behind this legend?
You all know the Yule Cat; and that cat was huge indeed. Or maybe you don't, in which case this episode is perfect for you! Come learn all about the Kurisumasu Dai Kaiju (Christmas Giant Monster) who encourages generosity, textile manufacturing and devours hapless peasants. We've also got some info on our other show, Strange Conversations. Happy Holidays!
It’s time to talk Chupacabras. Which one? Both. And soon, we hope, you won’t have to ask that question. Brought to you by Loch Ness Licorice.
We had an amazing time at Cryptid Con 2021 in Lexington, Kentucky. A huge thank you to everyone we met, hung out with and accosted as Krampus. Part survival guide, part travel blog, part stream of consciousness, we had a unique experience at Cryptid Con 2021 and are excited to share it with you.
Sasquatch has a long and interesting history in Texas. We dig into sightings from the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization database, some known hoaxes, and then wax poetic about whether or not false sightings can be a good thing.
This episode was a weird one. We almost scrapped it and started over, but that seemed a waste. What was supposed to be an episode on Sasquatch in Texas turned into something else entirely.
Thomas Baker Slick Jr. was many things. Inventor, philanthropist, war veteran, scientist, art collector, author... and cryptozoologist. Tom financed Peter Byrne's search for Bigfoot in the Pacific Northwest, had an affinity for giant salamanders and even visited Loch Ness in search of the lake's fabled sea monster. While his life was tragically cut short at the age of 46, Tom laid a foundation upon which modern cryptozoology still stands.
The Lone Star State has a rich history of UFO sightings which continue to this day. We look at some historical cases, some VERY recent ones, and also teach you how to survive an alligator attack and avoid going missing in deep bodies of water. What's going on with Lake Travis? Where are all these cylinders coming from? We don't know. Alligators? Yes.

It's time for Dogman. Join us on a semi-deep dive into all things Dogman (not shapeshifters) and a trio of sightings very specific to central Texas.
This episode was inspiration for the Texas Dogman Triangle (book) and The Dogman Triangle: Werewolves in The Lonestar State (film), coming in spring of 2023 from Small Town Monsters.
Includes a recap of Cryptidbash 2021!
1975, Southwest Texas, Halloween Night. A man dances well, but is he more than a man? Maybe, maybe not. Find out as we examine a local San Antonio folk tale and trace it's dark historical roots all the way to the 15th century.

In 1885 a man named Al Lackey tried to murder his entire family... with... moderate success. Why? Where? Are phantom hitchhikers real? Cats are cute, but why are they ALSO so annoying? We may or may not figure all this out on Episode 2 of Hey Strangeness. A little bit of true crime, a little bit of paranormal, a lot of "this is okay, you guys are doing an alright job I guess."
